REFERRALS

Referrals originate from parents, physicians, community agencies or the school the child attends. As part of the Center's agreement with the Miami-Dade County Public School (M-DCPS), all referrals for day treatment programs are processed through M-DCPS' Regional Offices for Special Education.

Referrals for day treatment programs fall within these guidelines:

  • The child’s primary problem is an emotional or behavioral disability which interferes significantly with daily functioning.
  • The child demonstrates evidence for average intellectual functioning.
  • Referrals are screened by a BACC Psycho-educational Specialist.

Other programs offered by the Center have specific eligibility criteria and referral process. Criteria for the therapeutic summer programs can be found in another section of this website. For information on eligibility criteria for other programs (including therapeutic after school, early intervention and transition programs), please contact the BACC Administrative Office at 305-756-7116.
